January 27, 2012 - Temporary Nighttime Traffic Stoppage - Highway 1 between Sprott Street and Gaglardi Way

On January 30 (weather dependent), between midnight and 4 a.m., Highway 1 eastbound and westbound between Sprott Street and Gaglardi Way in Burnaby will be temporarily stopped for up to 20 minutes. Electronic message boards will be placed on Highway 1 to alert motorists of the temporary stoppages.

This will allow BC Hydro to perform emergency repair work and will ensure construction crews and the travelling public remain safe during the overnight work.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly and may wish to use alternate routes during this period. Drivers may wish to use Lougheed Highway between Sprott Street and Gaglardi Way.

As crews continue to work along one of the busiest corridors in Canada, motorists are reminded to obey construction signs and to watch for flag persons. Please use caution, particularly at night.
