Langley Transit Improvements Ready for Port Mann Opening

LANGLEY - November 16, 2012

Langley Member of Parliament Mark Warawa and Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Mary Polak celebrated the completion of the Carvolth Transit Exchange and Park and Ride, and announcement of TransLink’s ExpressBus schedule, the first reliable transit over the Port Mann Bridge in over 25 years. Langley City Mayor and vice-chair of the Mayors’ Council on Regional Transportation Peter Fassbender confirmed the transit service will start Dec. 1, the official opening date for the Port Mann Bridge. Port Mann Customer Privacy Notification

Transportation Investment Corporation (TI Corp) has issued letters to 271 TReO Port Mann Bridge customers whose tolling accounts were flagged for attention due to possible compromise. There is no evidence to indicate any customer’s personal information was compromised, but notification has been issued to the account holders as a precautionary measureMore details.  

Port Mann Bridge tolls to start at $1.50

VANCOUVER - September 12, 2012

Commuters and families will benefit with tolls on the new Port Mann Bridge starting at $1.50 for passenger vehicles when tolling begins this December - 50 per cent less than the originally planned toll rate, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Mary Polak announced today. More details.  

Upcoming Cape Horn construction key to faster new Port Mann Bridge

Some traffic will be driving on the new Port Mann Bridge later this month, but not before some of the Port Mann/Highway 1 Improvement Project’s most technically challenging work takes place in Coquitlam. Drivers are being told to expect big changes, and weekend delays, during September as crews complete several new connections between the Cape Horn Interchange and the north end of the Port Mann Bridge. More details.

Port Mann Reaches Milestone with centre span connection

COQUITLAM/SURREY - June 21, 2012

The final centre gap in the new Port Mann Bridge was closed today, a major construction milestone that completes the bridge deck and superstructure required to open the bridge to traffic this December. Gantry repairs will not affect Port Mann Bridge schedule

VANCOUVER - March 12, 2012

Based on the timeframe for the remaining repairs to the gantry used to build the approaches spans of the new Port Mann Bridge, and the estimated date for resuming normal gantry operations, no change is expected to the scheduled December 2012 opening date for the new bridge. More details

Malfunction of port mann gantry crane under investigation

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on February 10, the yellow construction gantry (truss) used to install precast deck sections on the north approach of the new Port Mann Bridge experienced a malfunction and is leaning south, toward the cable-stay section of the bridge. More details

The provincial government will construct the Port Mann Bridge and Highway 1 Project using a design-build, fixed-price contract after being unable to reach final agreement with Connect BC Development Group, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Kevin Falcon announced today.
