ARE YOU ACQUIRING PROPERTY TO CONSTRUCT THE PROJECT?
Most of the PMH1 improvements will be done within Ministry property or the existing right-of-way. However, some property will be required at some locations – particularly around new interchanges.
The vast majority of property acquisitions required for the project are now complete. If a property is required, individual property owners are contacted by a member of the Project's property team to discuss the process in more detail.
We are committed to working with homeowners and businesses to ensure all property owners are treated fairly, reasonably, and consistently.

WILL YOU EXPROPRIATE HOMES TO BUILD THE PMH1 PROJECT?
Our goal is to acquire property based on mutual agreement, similar to a normal market transaction. The vast majority of times, we do acquire property this way. In the event of expropriation, the BC Expropriation Act exists to protect the interests of property owners.
TI Corp and the Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure is committed to an equitable and consistent property acquisition process.

WHAT IS THE B.C. EXPROPRIATION ACT?
The B.C. Expropriation Act is Provincial legislation that provides a mechanism for an independent determination of compensation in the event that a mutual agreement cannot be reached.
The Act is designed to protect property owners and ensure the Ministry negotiates in good faith and that property owners receive fair compensation for the property.
For more information about the expropriation process, details are available online at: www.ecb.gov.bc.ca/rights.htm.
